   Welcome

A Charge To Keep I have

Fellowship

Real fellowship is so much more than just showing up to church. It involves experiencing life together with others through honest sharing, practical serving, sacrificial giving, and more.

Discipleship

Discipleship is the process of becoming like Christ, and it always begins with a decision: “'Follow me and be my disciple,' Jesus said to him.

Ministry

Ministry is living a life that serves others and God, instead of only thinking about ourselves. Choose to discover how God shaped you, and how you can serve.

PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION

Ecumenical University is a Christian academic community in the tradition of evangelical institutions of higher education. As such, Ecumenical continues the philosophy of education which first gave rise to the university, and which is summarized in the following propositions.

God, the infinite source of all things, has shown us truth through scripture, nature, history, and above all, in Christ.

Persons are spiritual, rational, moral, social, and physical, created in the image of God. They are, therefore, able to know and to value themselves and other persons, the universe, and God

Education as the process of teaching and learning, involves the whole person, by developing the knowledge, values, and skills which enable each individual to change freely. Thus it occurs most effectively when both instructor and student are properly related to God and each other through Christ.

Ecumenical University Will

  • Emphasize excellence in teaching and learning.
  • Foster university-level competencies in communication, critical thinking, information literacy, and mathematics in all undergraduate programs.
  • Ensure competency in scholarship, research, and professional communication in all graduate programs and undergraduate programs where appropriate.
  • Promote the synthesis of academic knowledge and a Christian worldview in order that there might be a maturing of spiritual, intellectual, social and physical value-driven behavior.
  • Enable students to engage in a major field of study in career-focused disciplines built on a solid foundation in the liberal arts.
  • Promote an understanding of the Western tradition and the diverse elements of American cultural history, especially the importance of the individual in maintaining democratic and free market processes.
  • Contribute to a knowledge and understanding of other cultures and of international events.
  • Encourage a commitment to the Christian life, one of personal integrity, sensitivity to the needs of others, social responsibility and active communication of the Christian faith, and, as it is lived out, a life that leads people to Jesus Christ as the Lord of the universe and their own personal Savior.

History of Ecumenical University

Ecumenical University was founded by Bishop Redfern II. It was an outgrowth of the work of Dr. Stephen Manley's Cross Style School of Practical ministry. Dr. Manley set up training camps for pastors and lay leaders in the rural areas of over 40 undeveloped countries.

These leaders could not attend college or a seminary because of expense and time requirements.

Volunteers were sent to identify, train and empower local leaders to open training centers. Each center was equipped with a"Seminary in a Box." This included video classroom instruction on DVDs. The kit came with a DVD player, Television and a generator for places without electricity.
These training kits have been provided to rural churches and groups in undeveloped countries throughout the world for the last twenty years.

Over the years, the students wanted their studies to be authenticated and their completion of the course materials recognized. We started with a certificate of completion which later became a degree and then to the diploma level. In 2006 we started having graduation ceremonies with cap and gowns. When the students started using their certificates and diplomas as references in their local churches, with the government and as a prerequisite for ordination and ministry work, it became clear that a central worldwide facility was needed to curate their educational accomplishments.

The Ecumenical University was chartered in Columbia, South Carolina, the USA on April 11, 2012, by Redfern II, Presiding Bishop and General Overseer of the Ecumenical Church Worldwide With the formation of the Ecumenical University, a Board of regents was created to oversee a worldwide system to curate the records of former students and to standardize the curriculum, systems of grading, and the recording of students' certificates, degrees, and diplomas.

Ecumenical University's Statement of Faith

The sole basis of our beliefs is the Bible, God's infallible written Word, the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments. We believe that it was uniquely, verbally and fully inspired by the Holy Spirit and that it was written without error (inerrant) in the original manuscripts. It is the supreme and final authority in all matters on which it speaks.

We accept those areas of doctrinal teaching on which, historically, there has been general agreement among all true Christians. Because of the specialized calling of our movement, we desire to allow for freedom of conviction on other doctrinal matters, provided that any interpretation is based upon the Bible alone, and that no such interpretation shall become an issue which hinders the ministry to which God has called us.

There is one true God, eternally existing in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – each of whom possesses equally all the attributes of Deity and the characteristics of personality.

Jesus Christ is God, the living Word, who became flesh through His miraculous conception by the Holy Spirit and His virgin birth. Hence, He is perfect Deity and true humanity united in one person forever.
He lived a sinless life and voluntarily atoned for the sins of men by dying on the cross as their substitute, thus satisfying divine justice and accomplishing salvation for all who trust in Him alone.

He rose from the dead in the same body, though glorified, in which He lived and died.

He ascended bodily into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God the Father, where He, the only mediator between God and man, continually makes intercession for His own. Man was originally created in the image of God. He sinned by disobeying God; thus, he was alienated from his Creator. That historic fall brought all mankind under divine condemnation.

Man's nature is corrupted, and he is thus totally unable to please God. Every man is in need of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit.

The salvation of man is wholly a work of God's free grace and is not the work, in whole or in part, of human works or goodness or religious ceremony. God imputes His righteousness to those who put their faith in Christ alone for their salvation and thereby justified them in His sight.

It is the privilege of all who are born again of the Spirit to be assured of their salvation from the very moment in which they trust Christ as their Savior. This assurance is not based upon any kind of human merit but is produced by the witness of the Holy Spirit, who confirms in the believer the testimony of God in His written word.

The Holy Spirit has come into the world to reveal and glorify Christ and to apply the saving work of Christ to men. He convicts and draws sinners to Christ, imparts new life to them, continually indwells them from the moment of spiritual birth and seals them until the day of redemption. His fullness, power, and control are appropriated in the believer's life by faith.

Every believer is called to live so in the power of the indwelling Spirit that he will not fulfill the lust of the flesh but will bear fruit to the glory of God.

Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church, His Body, which is composed of all men, living and dead, who have been joined to Him through saving faith.

God admonishes His people to assemble together regularly for worship, for participation in ordinances, for edification through the Scriptures and for mutual encouragement.

At physical death, the believer enters immediately into eternal, conscious fellowship with the Lord and awaits the resurrection of his body to everlasting glory and blessing.

At physical death, the unbeliever enters immediately into eternal, conscious separation from the Lord and awaits the resurrection of his body to everlasting judgment and condemnation.

Jesus Christ will come again to the earth – personally, visibly and bodily – to consummate history and the eternal plan of God.

The Lord Jesus Christ commanded all believers to proclaim the Gospel throughout the world and to disciple men of every nation. The fulfillment of that Great Commission requires that all worldly and personal ambitions be subordinated to a total commitment to "Him who loved us and gave Himself for us."

CityLight is a Catalyst Connecting Christ to the Culture for Community Change

Prayer Catalysts are people that commit to daily prayer for the people in their sphere, local and foreign missionaries, and the lost wherever they may be.
All believers are called to be
Prayer Catalysts (2 Cor 1:11; Col 4:2; Eph 6:18; Lk 18:1)

License and Ordination

Generally called the “Certificate of License for the Gospel Ministry” or the “License to Preach” it is an initial step in the path to full ordination. A License is a way for the local church to give recognition, authorization and affirmation of a person’s gifts and skills for ministry. Ordination is the final step and it authorizes the minister to perform church rites and sacraments, such as baptisms, legal marriages and funerals. Ordination is appropriate for those who have a substantial preaching/teaching ministry in a church, ecumenical church, mission agency, or educational institution.

Ecumenical Ministers' Conclave

All the Ministers of the Ecumenical Church Worldwide will gathered together as an assembly to decide on the main questions and orientations of the Church, adopt the budget of projects and new priorities. They will also approve the new appointees of the University. During the Minister’s conclave, elections can be organized upon a proposition of the Presiding Bishop and General Overseer.
