ONLINE CLASSROOM
1. The Ecumenical University Online Classroom is a formal online setting that incorporates synchronous and/or asynchronous learning opportunities for language learners to actively interact with fellow learners. In this setting, students develop their language proficiency and gain cultural competence in the target language.
2. The EU online classroom is an environment created through use of a learning management system (LMS) that allows students and teacher to connect either synchronously (real-time, with teacher and students meeting at the same time or asynchronously with interaction between teacher and students occurring intermittently with a time delay; teacher students are generally separated by location. Student may connect using a desktop, laptop, tablet or cell phone.
3. Nontraditional classroom in which learners and instructors are not in physical proximity with each other. An online class can be conducted synchronously or asynchronously. An online course is managed and communication is conducted through various electronic methods.
4. A classroom that has no face-to-face component; all interaction between the students and the instructor—both synchronous and asynchronous—is conducted using a combination of CMC and DC applications
